A free, open-source platform for managing and publishing SDG data and statistics.
For governments and organizations exploring tools for building and hosting a SDG database, Open SDG offers a free, open-source platform for managing and publishing SDG data and statistics.
The site includes guidance, FAQs, and the content needed to build a customizable dashboard with data visualizations for local, national, and global indicators. However, while they can be created through open source and free services, building and maintaining a dashboard requires staff time and technical capacity, including data selection and updates.
The City of Los Angeles utilized Open SDG for the city’s SDG Dashboard; see the Los Angeles SDG wiki for information from L.A. on the tools and modifications used to build their unique site. Local governments, universities, and community foundations have been known to contribute to or host SDG dashboards, and in many cases through multi-sectoral public-private partnerships.

The UN’s information platform on voluntary national reviews, country-level reporting on SDG progress.
National and sub-national governments committed to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development are encouraged to complete regular, comprehensive, voluntary, and inclusive reviews of SDG progress. Country-level reviews are submitted during the annual High-Level Political Forum, which takes place at United Nations Headquarters in New York City each July. Country-level reports are called “voluntary national reviews” – or “VNRs”.
This website hosts relevant information for states planning to submit a VNR in the current cycle, a repository of VNRs submitted to-date, as well as tools, resources, and other relevant information for country-level SDG progress reviews.
As of July 2024, there are three countries out of the 193 Member States signed onto the SDGs that have not yet completed a VNR: Haiti, Myanmar, and the United States of America.

A 2021 report tracking progress of all 50 states on the Sustainable Development Goals.
A 2021 report tracking progress of all 50 states on the Sustainable Development Goals. This resource contains a written report, SDG rankings by state, and interactive maps showcasing state-level SDG performance. The findings indicate that in 2021, no state had met, nor was on track to meet, the SDGs.
This report also includes a Leave No One Behind index, which tracks inequalities along four dimensions: poverty, services, gender, and income.
