Open SDG

For governments and organizations exploring tools for building and hosting a SDG database, Open SDG offers a free, open-source platform for managing and publishing SDG data and statistics.

The site includes guidance, FAQs, and the content needed to build a customizable dashboard with data visualizations for local, national, and global indicators. However, while they can be created through open source and free services, building and maintaining a dashboard requires staff time and technical capacity, including data selection and updates.

The City of Los Angeles utilized Open SDG for the city’s SDG Dashboard; see the Los Angeles SDG wiki for information from L.A. on the tools and modifications used to build their unique site. Local governments, universities, and community foundations have been known to contribute to or host SDG dashboards, and in many cases through multi-sectoral public-private partnerships.
